“Game of the day goes to Bruins vs Torpedoes and what a game it was. Torpedoes took a quick 4 – 2 lead 3 minutes into the game when Daniel Kim made a lay-up. Bruin’s were able to take back the lead 6 – 5 thanks to an Evan Tsuji floater. The lead changed back to the Torpedoes when Joshua Lee stole the ball and made a fast break lay-up with 5 minutes remaining in the half. Bruin’s Ryan Burt was able to tie the game when he made a 15 foot jump shot, but Torpedoes Daniel Kim made a put-back lay-up to end the half and giving his team the lead at 18 – 15.
However, the lead would soon be gone with the help of a Bruin’s Justin Nakama lay-up, 19 – 18 Bruin’s. 4 minutes into the half, Torpedoes Ethan Tse and Cory Murase took the lead back for their team with lay-ups. The score was now 24 – 21, torpedoes. Unfortunately for the Torpedoes, they would again lose the lead when Tyler Kuang made a jump shot and a fast break lay-up pushing his team up ahead 27 – 24 (7:30). Torpedoes Daniel Kim was able to tie the game at 4 minutes, but that’s as close as they would get to take the lead back. With 2 minutes left, Bruin’s Ryan Burt replaced Ryan Okamura for 2 free throws and was able to sink 2 clutch free throws for a score of 30 – 28. As Torpedoes continued to push, the Bruin’s kept responding ending with a Justin Nakama 34 – 33 fast break with just 30 seconds left. Torpedoes were unable to score again and the game ended with the Bruin’s on top 34 – 33, giving the Torpedoes the first lost of the season. Spectacular Bruin performances by: Evan Tsuji 6 points, Tyler Kuang 10 points and Ryan Burt 5 points. Notable Torpedoe Player’s: Zachary Hiura 4 points and Martin Kim and Nicholas Lee’s defense.
