The Community Youth Council (CYC Invitational) is proud to announce the 2013-14 recipient of the Hideo Kunitomi/Paul Suzuki scholarship award as Joshua Yeh who is from the Evergreen organization.

The Kunitomi/Suzuki Award was established in memory of Hideo Kunitomi and Paul Suzuki to honor both men for their long term service to CYC.  A college scholarship is presented annually to a young man who excels in the following areas:  scholastic achievement, active participation in school and community affairs, leadership skills and true sportsmanship.  The award was presented to Joshua at CYC’s Jamboree event which was held at Schurr High School on February 23.  Also, a runner-up award was presented to Dennis Takeshita from the Jets organization.

Kevin and Ada Yeh of San Gabriel are the proud parents of Joshua and two younger brothers Mitchell and Jacob.  Joshua currently attends Maranatha High School.  Joshua has maintained a strong GPA while being active in school basketball and swim as well as volunteering with several service groups including the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and Evergreen organization where he serves as a 4th grade team assistant coach and youth camp counselor.

Joshua’s former basketball coach Michael Wang also cites his strong leadership traits and says, “Joshua will go out of his way to mentor and encourage other players on the team with no regard as to the player’s abilities on the court.”  Michael adds, “Joshua has an infectious personality, clever wit and self-deprecating nature that draw people to him.  I never cease to see him without a smile on his face and spreading joy to others.”

Joshua would like to attend USC where attended the Summer Program at the USC Marshall School of Business Entrepreneurship Program for high schoolers and has an interest in the field of Global Business/International Relations.
